This vintage of Pinot Noir is a blend of all three of the Pinot Noir Clones we grow here at McGregor Vineyard: Mariafeld clone, Clone 7, and the Gamay-Beaujolais clone. This is a very aromatic wine with aromas reminiscent of ripe red raspberries, cherries and strawberries with a hint of vanilla. These aromas follow through on the palate and the wine is rich and medium bodied. The oak character is elegantly integrated with the fruit character and the wine lingers nicely on the palate. Aged for 27 months in French Oak.
This vibrant, ruby red wine is very aromatic and flavorful. It has a rather understated complexity of aromas and flavors that come alive in the glass as the wine breathes and opens up. Red cherry, strawberry, black tea, forest floor, spice and vanilla. The wine finishes with lingering fruit flavors and velvety tannins. This wine is quite approachable right now, but can easily cellar for at least 3-5 years.
This vintage of Pinot has a deep, dark garnet color. Aromas and flavors of tart cherry and strawberry are most noticeable. Hints of flowers and spice are also present. The balance between fruit character and great Finger Lakes acidity makes this a perfect food friendly wine. Serve with grilled steak, seared tuna, salmon and tangy barbecued chicken.
Our latest Pinot Noir release is a youthful-tasting entry into our current lineup of Pinot Noir vintages. Initial aromas of black cherry, raspberry, coconut, and spice abound. At first taste you are met with a complexity of flavors: black currant & cranberry give way to a finish of elderberry, vanilla, & light oak. This Pinot is medium bodied with medium-fine tannins which lead to an enjoyable finish.
